When the print dialog opens, select PDF Maker (or whatever it's called),
and create a PDF from any application that can print.   Maybe I just got
lucky when I installed Acrobat, but that's how it works on my machine.

However, having it on the network instead of the local box as you describe
would be very good if you want all your users to have this functionality
without giving each one Acrobat on their desktop.   Do you
still have to pay for licenses for everybody that way?
