subject: blockreading from a pipe

There's no limitation on the number of bytes that can be read by the
   DosRead system call in OS/2.

*However*, when reading from a pipe the maximum number of bytes that
you can read depends from the size of the pipe buffer specified in the
   call to DosCreatePipe.

This is because once a process *writes* that number of bytes into the
pipe, further writes will be blocked until the data have been read from
   the other end.
