Perhaps it was faulty? My WD 730mb (November 1994) is very fast, a little
noisy when reading/writing but no noticable spinning noise. My Plus
Hardcard 20mb makes a VERY audible noise when simply spinning; the WD does
not.


Perhaps it fell off the back of a truck, literally?
