| subject: | Program Object problem popped up |
It seems that sometime in the last day or two, a few of my program objects
on my assorted folders have gone missing. In this case missing means
that while the object appears, all the underlying data for that object is
gone.
The Warp4 FP17 system had been running for a few days.
I had booted to an eCS 1.x release and installed firefox v2. But the
system was limited to only one disk partition. This sytem has only one
disk partition "C". So it should not have messed with my HPFS drive H or
HPFS drive I.
Only two directories have problems. One is the SIBYL\BIN the other is
SIBYL\OUTPUT. The other programs/program objects on the disk (HPFS drive
H) are fine.
I've deleted the bad program objects from the Startup folder, and the
Desktop.
I've tried to recreate the program objects from the original executables
(through WPS folder methods). The original executables are fully intact,
and I can rum them.
It would appear that a desktop link to a data only folder in HPFS drive I
has lost a link.
The old object, and any program object that I try to recreate, or alter
directly, has the full path of the program properly set. When saved, the
results are not good. I then re-open the program object and find that it
has substituted the H: or I: of the object with C:\BUILD.CMD instead. The
rest of the path appears properly.
Of course, this change prevents the application from being found.
I've tried other programs of what appear to be non-affected drives and
directories. These program objects create without problems.
All problem source items, programs or folders appear just fine in WPS
folder objects.
I just can't imagine what I did to cause this to happen.
Anyone have a clue what is wrong, or how I might go about fixing the
problem?
