Well its just a name. Like my fidonet network i run (as NC/NEC)
is Net112 or commonly called North East Florida Network or
a few other names. Family net is just a name of their entire
network. Network in terms of being the same type of technology
that fido works on. Using the same format for mail, files and
nodelists. Commonly called a FTN style network. Fidonet
technology network. Like my network AdventureNet or STN or
MirageNet are FTN networks using zones 33, 111 and 90 respectively.
Most folks who form their own nets form their own zones. Usually
not 1-7 though for obvious reaons not to conflict with fido.
So anything from 8-9999 I guess is valid. I think I've only
seen a zone go up to 7000 though.
