ROFLMAO. Really not like you try & put words into the mouth of others
to the degree of even changing the subject lines of posts....

So mention it then Rich. If MS proposes to include "competing
products" will MS be writing the fixes for other people's software?

Playing at sophistry agin Rich? I never had a problem with distributors
distibuting fixes. What I have a problem with is crap like this "It's
not that linux is not full of problems, it's that virtually no one
cares" where the problems are not linux problems but GAIM or Mutt
problems.

Red Hat are a linux distributor. I can choose a mini-distrib which comes
with some base tools. I can then say there are no problems with the vast
majority of your spurious "linux" problems.

Nope. You're the one making the leap from a distribution to linux per se.
The recent memmap thing is a linux problem. A problem with Gaim is a
problem with GAIM & given the same version is available for windows
then it is either a GAIM problem or a Linux problem, a windows problem
etc.etc. for as many different ports there are for that version.

So is the recent problem with GAIM a windows problem?

If so then MS have been very remiss in not issuing a security advisory
& indeed in not offering it's customers a fixed version.
