No. I mean that the %L only works when connected. You have to make
a fresh call with the transmit level set FIRST and THEN see what the
%L is. Since V34 has a very fancy system for configuring a wide variety
of values for a particular call, you dont want to try fiddling with just
one part way thru a call.

In theory you should be able to force a retrain instead of a fresh call,
but I think thats unnecessarily adding to the number of variables.
