I have lucked into (?) an old monitor tube, aka TV tube. It looks
very much as if it might turn into a terrarium.
However, I seem to recall a variety of warnings of a hazardous
nature, such as high-voltage capacitance, imploding due to
pressure differentials, exploding due to pressure differentials.
I've already posted a message on Ecology asking for an
alternative disposal route (dropping it down the garbage chute
from the 15th floor sounds fun, but ....).
Assuming protective eye-glasses, long-sleeved shirt and pants,
shoes, gloves, even a working enclosure of a clear palstic tent
(like they put premature babies into) what are the possibilities
of opening this sucker up and doing something with it? It
measures 15 inches diagonally, and the outer case seems to be
restrained with a series of fine-wire cables.
