I must have been dozing since I still fail to see what educational
value there is to a timed test. If the kid understands the concept
of addition, place value and all that and is able to complete say
50 out of 100 correctly should she be penalized for not
completing the other 50? Isn't the 50 correct as much evidence as
needed to demonstrate understanding? Then there's the kid who
correctly completes 100 of 100 - does that kid have a better
understanding or can she just process faster? Does that second kid
receive a higher grade?
I don't want to come across as being argumentative - I really don't
see the purpose or value other than as a test of speed..
... 2 + 2 = 5 for sufficiently large values of 2.
