LQQK at the passage.  What takes place?  How do the events occur?  They
go up to the mountain, a passage of time occurs and they come down.
Their whole tenor is that the Transfiguration occured in time, that is,
it was a true historical event.  At one moment in time there was no
pulling back of the drapes, then in the next there was.  There are NO
verbial indicators that the event was symbolic, phrases such as, "liken
unto."   As to what they actually saw are couched in such terminology,
trying to express that which is other worldly, but there, it is even
more indicative of a true event having occured wherein one dimension
transcends another.

Also, the word "transfigure" speaks of inward out-sourcing.  No wonder
non-Trinitarians find it necessary to mythologize or reduce  this
passage to symbolization.  But a natural, historic/grammatical reading
places the event in true space-time history even as was the virgin
birth and the atoning nature of His cross work/ death.

Again, look the term up in a good word study reference, whether BAG,
TDNT, a lexicon, or an Greek to English word study reference such as
Vine's or Wuest's word studies.
