as I recall that remark only applied to SECAM

I'm fairly sure I've seen up round 500 lines on a PAL TV
this was interlaced  with a 50Hz vertical rate so horozontal sharp edges
didn't look good, given the 25 hz refresh rate... signal source was an
Amiga 500.
