As I remember it started pretty much like I have seen stationary turbines 
since start. A pre-lube time until oil pressure reached a minimum, then a 
slow wind-up of the turbine with no fuel applied until a min speed was 
reached at which time fuel was introduced then ignited, if the turbine caught 
all was fine if not it went into a purge cycle then shutdown. Then you 
started all over. Total elasped time was around 3 minutes if it started. I 
thought the tail pipe was much larger but it has been a long time.
