subject: config file in a btm

Hi Klaus,

(Wednesday November 04 1998 07:58) Klaus Meinhard to steve steffler about:
config file in a btm

 SS>> What methods can I use to get a batch file in 4DOS to read parameters
 SS>> for its operation from a config file?
 KM> RTFL would be a good start .

That's a deadly blow... It'll splice his skull ;-)))

 KM> Take a look at variable functions. I imagine that {at}lines and {at}line
 KM> will be of use, further parsing may be done with {at}words and {at}word.

In my 4Dos phonedialer-batch I've set up ANOTHER method. The config looks like this:

> Begin dial.cfg <
PORT=COM4:
COUNTRY=31
LOCAL=40
PrefI=1633
PrefLD=0
> End dial.cfg <

The batch executes the instruction `set /r c:\bat\dial.cfg`, and when
that's done, the variables PORT, COUNTRY, LOCAL, PREFI, and PREFLD have the
desired values, which Dial.btm then uses.

Other 4Dos-powered menu-driven programs that I deviced, use the same method
for configuration, and it works like a charm!

Keep it up,
