RS> These games are not for teaching the fine art of fishing, they
RS> are for making a "Buck" for the vendor.
DH> Well, yeah, games are first and formost games. There are aircraft
DH> simulators that teach people how to fly, there might be some
DH> fishing games that teach people how to fish. I could sure use
DH> some help. I think the best way to learn is to get out on the
DH> water and fish. I saw a guy in the rain, on a dreary day, standing on
DH> his bass boat fishing. I figure either he hates going home or he wants
DH> to learn how to fish in any weather.
When I was about 4 years old, my parents would take me fishing.
With Live Minnows and Crappie Rigs they would try to catch
Crappie when they were schooling. When their Minnow began
to lose their ability to swim, they would take them off and
put on a new "Live" minnow. They would give me the dead ones.
I would catch 1 and sometimes 2 at once with their dead ones.
The only difference was, I was using a straight line. No Rod
and Reel, no Pole. Just let the bottom sinker down to the
bottom and pull it up about a foot. With the straight line
I could feel those Crappie sucking on the minnow. When they
took it in their mouth I set the hook and pulled them in.
A "Real" fisherman does not need all of those expensive
Rods, Reels, Lines and what have you. Just a Row Boat and
a straight line is all that is necessary.
