I agree that would be nice. How may times haven't you downloaded a "new" 
file, just to find out that the contents of the archive is several years old 

On the other hand, it's no big deal either doing like this:
 HM> PS: I have -s set in my ARJ.CFG :-)
or using the ARJ_SW environment variable:
SET ARJ_SW=-s
as I do. And by using this environment variable, I've noticed that ARJ 
automatically updates arjives to "newest", not only when creating them, but 
also when viewing their contents, or extracting files from them. VERY nice.
