Yep, IBM trying to play funny buggers and lock in the customers. Ala
Tandy doing the same thing previously.

Pretty sure that will work ok if you chuck out the old one. But not too
sure on the cmos config stuff, that may well bite you. I kept as far
away from the IBM machines like that as I could, too weird.

That US crowd who widely advertise hard disk upgrades for weird stuff
like the PS/2s (MicroHaus ?) could likely tell you precisely.
