 MM> I can't believe you're that young! :-)

I wrote the term paper in 1956. I was back at the same
 college teaching communications-engineering part-time
1964-1974. One of my former instructors remarked, "You
sure know how to make someone feel old." He had
been the faculty advisor to the student council at the
time I held two student body offices.

MM> A friend's family had one of those when I was a kid, the only
MM> color TV in the neighborhood! The wheel WAS twice the diameter
MM> of the tube, and sat on the upper right of the TV. There were
MM> three sets of filters (maybe four?), and the wheel actually
MM> turned pretty slow for what it had to accomplish.

I didn't realize public broadcasts were made using the CBS
system, before the FCC (and courts) ruled for NTSC and RCA.
I have read about some show-window TV demos ca. 1936, but
everything ground to a halt for WW II.

So for a tiny 7" or 9" TV, the wheel was 14" or 18". No one
in those days imagined 24" or 36" screens.
