On or about 01-30-06 08:40, Ardith Hinton did engage James Bradley AH> Such as... if Colin was such a nice man, why did AH> he need a goon squad? That's the sort of question which AH> makes history interesting for me... [chuckle]. See, and here I thought about the guy he was 'hitting up for the bucks'. Victims mentality??? Likely, I'm good at it. "Barricade the door, and pass the ammunition!" There is quite a history of monarchies robbing their "loyal subjects" into the ground to fund megalomania. JB> Oh, ya... That guy. "Same waggon: Same hill?" Sure, get JB> back on the horse, but don't run him off the same cliff! JB> The horse is bound to let you go it alone at the last JB> moment. Maybe that's why they call it 'horse sense'. <-: AH> The extreme SP may not relate cause & effect in such a "SP" = Same Person? AH> situation. You or I would probably decide we don't like having both AH> legs broken & try to figure out how to avoid repeating our AH> mistake(s). We're not quite as laid back as this person AH> with regard to living in the moment & taking things as they AH> come.... :-) But he DID learn from his mistake. He turned the waggon in the *opposite* direction the next time. Maybe they incarcerated him to make sure he wasn't going to dampen the steering, so he could REALLY pick up speed, and hurtle himself into the first immovable object. I mentioned the neighbour who pulled her Uncle's car out of park, and managed to release the hand-brake? This was midway up one of the steeper streets in the city. A Lincoln Continental, no less! JB> again. (Did I mention, I need a hot soak? ;-) AH> Uh-huh. "P" is perception. You've perceived AH> that you need a hot soak right now. That's okay. I'll AH> just type a bit more while you're gone... [grin]. L!!! Just getting over the cortisone shoot, and I need *another* sitz. If anyone tries to poke you in the joint with a needle, the right answer is "RUN!!!". JB> that I was perceiving events, and making snap judgements, JB> yet continued to be perplexed by my imagining the events AH> Yes, and that's the sort of remark which tells me your AH> reasoning style lies somewhere in the "perception" half of the AH> continuum. For your own safety & that of the other people Just twenty-hours ago, I was off to see my financial guy, and what do I find ONE-BLOCK East of the previous altercation: A woman, shuffling in her slippers down the street, under-dressed for the weather. "What the..." I asked myself. As I rounded the corner, I see pickets to a fence displaced on the boulevard. Closer still; something cylindrical laying right next to the boards. As I neared the woman, she was still waddling toward my car, and I see more pickets from the adjacent face of the same fence, and realize a vehicle took out the two sections of fence, and did so with enough force to dislodge the fire plug too! A police car drifted into the next intersection I had to navigate, so I pulled over to give them the birth they might need, then a second car with red and blue on top slows down to give me a look, I suppose checking if I had damage on the bodywork. Yup, after living here, anywhere else would just be boring. Maybe I should move to Afghanistan? AH> involved you had to make snap judgements about what was going on. But AH> having done so, you didn't say to yourself "My mind is made up... AH> don't confuse me with facts!" and go racing off in pursuit AH> of something else you could make snap judgements about. That earlier instance, I could do something to affect the outcome, or so I would like to think. Yesterday, I had a meeting to attend, so I couldn't do much to assist, and for that matter, it was better to let the pros go after 'em. They were as available as I was, or more exactly, one block further away. AH> ... which tells me there's also an "intuitive" component to AH> your reasoning. :-) I've often imagined, that the worst thing about my situation if called upon, I could do that much less to assist victims in a pickle. I mentioned I was *the* guy that was invited to help move, and when available I'd recruit one kid to help me balance heavy loads? JB> separates the functional, from the deviant. AH> Could be. Although you may feel like (literally) smacking AH> some people upside the head or whatever, you don't just act on AH> impulse. Recognizing when it is inappropriate to do so, AH> IMHO, requires a certain amount of judgement.... :-) A friends whit, was one that always made me split-a-gut. Any deep breaths, including sneezing, and laughing tends to twang my bad nerve. (There's a lot of "BWA-OW,OW,Ow,OW!!!") Every time she would crack a wise-one, and if she was in reach, I'd flail my open hand across her arm, in a mock "woman beating" session. (No, no damage, but we'd both be laughing all the harder for it, increasing my 'love-hate' for the girl...) Now, I owe you at least one flick on the forehead. Keep it up. I take notes... (-: NOT!!!) JB> Ah, and I thought I was going to sit on my hands today! AH> Not with me around, if I can help it... [chuckle]. Ya, well... I aught-a!!! "Ow, the leg hurts. Thanks for that!" Seriously, the cortisone did me no favours, and I need to put out some fires around here. I'll be typing more later. ... Straighten up the house?
