BL> I have realised that it is pointless trying to explain electronics
BL> to an idiot who thinks you can test a comm link with one modem. if you
BL> ever understand that much, perhaps I'll try again.

I was using three modems above. It's pointless trying to explain
something to someone who can't tell the difference between 1 and 3.
You also have a lot of problems telling the difference between 5
and -10.

BL> But in the meantime, consider this:

BL> Bill is the most experienced one here with modems.

He's certainly the most experienced at giving GUARANTEES on modems,
that's for sure. It's a great shame that the GUARANTEES are backed
up by a Bill Grimsley life-time of arse-wind-blowing.

BL> I am a electronic engineer.

An electronic engineer that can't tell the difference between 5 and
-10 no less. I used to understand why we don't recognize Chinese
qualifications here in Australia, but now I'm not so sure.

BL> Joe is a development engineer with USR.

And Bill assures me that his direct employment by USR in no way
biasses his opinions at all, so we can regard anything he says as
absolute gospel. With a Bill Grimsley Guarantee thrown in.

BL> We three say one thing and you say another.

You three are all saying that the line quality changes with a change
of modem? Because what I am saying is that it DOESN'T.

BL> Does this make you suspect that you may be wrong? If not, your
BL> stupidity is terminal and do not bother replying.

99.999% of the world used to think it was flat. The stupidity of
the people around me has never been sufficient evidence for me to
agree with them. Technical facts/logic are. BFN. Paul.
