Then please add a warning something like this to your mail reader:

"Warning: Unlike the official msgapi.dll code,  this program contains
code not tested by 100's of users.  Additionally,  it uses a different
compiler than the official version,  which may have caused new bugs to be
created.  It may, therefore,  destroy all of your data."

I know I'm taking this too the extreme,  but it's not far fetched.

By not using the dll,  you're not really using the supplier's routines are you?

In the case of msgapi.dll,  your program (I assume) assumes that the user
is already using max/squish,  so msgapi*.dll must already be installed
correctly.  I don't think your worry about having the DLL in the right
place is too much to be concerned about.
