-> I have a Quaker and he talks alot in his cage and says alot of phrase
-> and words we have taught him. I would like him to talk outside of hi
-> cage. Sometimes when he is on my shoulder or arm he will say Don't b
-> be a nice bird. Or he has said hey watcha doing..but mostly he is
-> quiet when he is out. Can anyone tell me why this is? does he need
-> to gain more confidence or feel more secure to talk outside the
-> cage? What can I do to encourage him?

WEll it is in my opinion that they are kinda shy birds... i had a quaker
But we had a hard time getting her to talk
outside of the cage as well she would only talk when you would be
leaving the room or want some attention.. the best this about
"Willie"was when i got home from work she would
be on top of her cage blowing me kisses and wanting me to come give her
a kiss and pet her...She was a real good bird and I miss her alot.. i
hope that i will be able to make one of the babies from my breeders a
good bird like her.The only advice i can give is to take the bird and
shit down with it on your hand at about eye level and just talk to it
and maybe it will finnaly come around to talk out side of the cage..
Good luck i am sure you have a very good bird.
