Don't know about Avast Free, but I am pleased with my paid version of Avira=
..  So far it had only two false positives (one, a CCTV remote viewing progr=
am that always comes up as a "Trojan", and the second a 'worm' that no othe=
r program found, in a zip file of old work stuff, so I think it's some Word=
 macro in there, but I deleted the file just in case).  Better a false posi=
tive than a false negative.  The interface is very primitive but I like it =
that way, less bloatware.
