The converters are a step in the right direction but they should
try to find a way to save the graphics as individual files IMO. 

The _reason_ for PDF seems to be the desire to use graphs,
charts, and at times parts of the text within an existing
graphic. Converting the 'text' means you generally are getting
only a portion of the information which can lead to mistakes
and false assumptions when it involved technical material
especially.
