The loss of whatever was ignificant compaired that the Stability of the
Color signal it produced. In fact TV sets no longer have the External
Tint adjustment. THAT alone was Well worth the slight loss of the color
bandwidth.


->  I have been trying to visulize the CBS system.  As I
->  see it, the flying spot wheel would have to be twice
->  the size of the picture tube.  Sounds like a humungous
->  flywheel in the living room of every home, waiting to
->  tear loose and go ripping through everything/everyone
->  like a giant buzz saw.  

 It didn't really spin that fast. And in those days of 7 Inch CRT's it
was not really that large. Concidering the size of the CAbinet those
soemthat large chassis needed to have. 
Of course for a modern 36 Inch direct view TV it would be a problem. BUT
as I mentioned the Rear Projection sets are starting to use the Three
Color Filter System that is very closely related to the CBS Idea.
