How did it start?  I never had occasion to see anyone start one.  Walked
behind one once, and nearly got roasted.  The tailpipe was about 6" dia
as I remember it.
I'm pretty sure they were running around Waco in 1954.  I saw it near
the high school (VIVIDLY remember) and I graduated in 1955.
