subject: Mainboard Caps Replacemen

Hello, Scott. I overheard you talking with Matt about - -

MM> If that Soyo has 11 bad ones, I bet they are the ones lined up behind
MM> the CPU, in which case, "size _is_ important"! :-))

SJ> Got it in one. They're clustered around the CPU and power supply
SJ> connector. Soyo M7VKD. Like I said, this thing was free. Plus I got
SJ> a 1GHz Athlon, 768MB of RAM, a NIC and an extra video card along with
 SJ> it.

Please post later and tell how the job turned out. Reason I ask - where
I volunteer we have had donations of some of these newer boards which
have problems. At least one Athlon board has a number of the
"self-indicator" bad caps on it. We don't have anyone there willing
to take on such a repair attempt, but I might be able to offer to pass
a few board(s) along to someone willing to give them a try.
