PE> I interpret the V34 spec to say that 64, 32 and 16-state
PE> trellis coding are REQUIRED. However, it is in the hands of
PE> the answering modem to CHOOSE any one of the 3. So in the
PE> case of you calling my M34F, it may well be that the M34F
PE> always asks for 16-state trellis coding. What evidence do
PE> you have that when the USR is CALLED by an M34F, that it
PE> DEMANDS 64-state trellis coding and is then REFUSED?

DD> Check the stats from when your M34F called this Sportster. It is still
DD> showing 16 for your trellis and 64 for mine.

Ah, one step ahead of me.

PE> I suspect that the M34F will indeed respond to any demand
PE> for 64-state trellis coding.

DD> It responds with 16.

Just run it by me again. Why is there two numbers shown, one 64
and one 16? The # states is not something that both modems need
to agree on? BFN. Paul.
