The kid that takes the drugs will not appear to be deviant.  Some of the
kids whose parents are smart enough to understand that drugs damage an
already unadequate immune/enzyme system will not be little angels.  The
kids who have used illegal drugs then quit with treatment are not
allowed back into the schools around here.  They either go without, home
school, or go to an alternative school.  Which is why we have the high
percentage of older teens not in any school system in this county.

Let me explain this to you......you haven't seen the child.  You aren't
the experts in mental illness that have seen this child, including one
psychologist, at Good Samaritan Mental Health in Puyallup.  And you
havnen't watched that same child crave whatever sweets are in the home
which are considerable.
I found http://www.doubleclicked.com/shedding light.html yesterday,
downloaded something called "Shedding Light: Childhood Behavior &
Learning Problems".  There were ten statements by ten experts on this.
The first was from someone with LCSW-C behind the name advocating
Ritalin, listed as a family systems psychoterapist.  No indication here
of any hard science courses along with whatever else was taken.
The second was by Dr. Richard Layton, allergy and pediatric medicine.
He has been breaking away from the conventional pediatrics and has been
using alternative methods in his practice.  He puts a lot of emphasis on
food allergies and remedial diets.  His statement:  "I believe that
besides hypersensitivities to foods, molds, pollens, chemicals and
additives, other underlying causes include antibiotics, chemical
pollution, pesticide spraying of foods, poor nutrition and nutritional
deficiencies."  He has been practicing medicine for 30 years.
Further:  "I strongly believe that the incidence of learning
disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder and Hyperactivity has markedly
increased in recent years.  We also cannot believe that we can ignore
the stressful time we are presently living in when it is difficult for
children to be children with the crime, drug abuse and chaos of the
1990s."
So again if children are born with a lousy set of enzymes, a lousy set
of neurotransmitters, then explain to me in detail how giving them a
drug or drugs that stresses out their brain and body chemistry further
is going to help them grow up into normal adults?
