It not difficult to provide strong evidence for the existance of the
nova/supernova end stages of stars.....far easier than proving the existance
of Extraterrestrials. A direct explosion was observered and recorded by the
Chinese and today we see the out going matter as the Crab nebula (? I think
this is the one). Next we understand the process which drives these events,
so we know that the laws MUST produce these events. Also processes like slow
neutron absorption for building up very heavy element are understood to take
place in these event. So with the tiny ratio of heavy elements in the
universe, it requires a large number of past supernova explosions.
