PE> Anyone want to tell me why hardly anyone uses MNP10, what it is, etc?

Its primarily intended for use on dramatically varying sessions, most
commonly seen with mobile phones. Instead of having a fixed block size
etc, it can vary that stuff based on the number of naks it does etc.

Its also a lot more tolerant of a session which degrades very badly
for a relatively short time and come back again. That can happen
with a mobile phone which changes cells during a session etc.

There is a real sense in which some of that stuff was useful
before V34 also goes to a lot more trouble to handle the session
characteristics varying thru the session, particularly being
able to vary the carrier freq and symbol rate as it changes etc.

MNP10 can give a useful increase on thruput in some circumstances
even with normal phone lines, but thats more an accident of its
mobile stuff. And isnt as useful with V34 as it is with V32bis etc.

And there is a sense in which some of the fancier optional bits of
V34 like SREJ and 64S trellis give some of the advantages of MNP10 too.
