On 09 Dec 96, Mark Wohlers K'd Stephen Frazier for saying:
TM>> If I'm so wrong about his present, why is he on the Braves' trading
TM>> block, and why are they now interested in keeping Dave Justice and
TM>> his $6 million salary?
SF>
SF> If he is so bad, why would the Braves think they could get something for
SF> him?
Touche'. However, the Braves surely know him better than anyone else.
SF> His job was to replace Justice LAST year. Surely even YOU don't
SF> think he could replace him permanently.
Why not, if he's such a phenom? Justice has a huge salary and is
injury-prone. I certainly think Andruw Jones could replace him permanently.
SF> Maddox was indeed the best in '95, but not as good as Smoltz in '96.
You're kidding, right? If you truly believe this, I'm sorry, but it totally
ruins your credibility. In '96 Smoltz had a very good year. In '95 Maddux
had another GREAT year. He dominated the league in virtually every category,
including ERA. Smoltz in '96 was barely better than Maddux in '96, and
arguably much worse than Kevin Brown. Smoltz's stats in '96 don't even begin
to compare to what Maddux did in '95, except for one category, Wins, which is
more of a team stat than an individual stat.

SF> And judging by Shuerholtz' actions lately, it will be their only one
SF> this decade.
Especially if he thinks Jermaine Dye should remain a starter.
