Agree on the 'ugly' part!
As far as the sloping front ends, I _think_ they are intended to wedge
under a vehicle in front of you so your face smashes into the rear bumper
of that vehicle (or truck). :-((
And of course, by the time your face travels that far, your airbag will
have already deflated. :-((
