It happened. I'm from that area and when I heard about this, I called a
few friends about it.
They had a training exercise in which helicopters flew into sections of
Pittsurgh sometime after midnight. Soldiers rapelled down to the ground
and began to "secure" the area. Apparently this activity was accompanied
by a lot of flash-bangs because it scared the hell out of everybody. The
local radio and TV stations were flooded with calls, but didn't believe
it until they saw the helicopters outside one of the stations.
It caused quite an uproar and a lot of political repercussions.
