That sounds pretty challenging.  Have you seen "Andy's Editor"?  Andy
Key (in the U.K.) has a text-mode portable folding editor.  Look for
AE* on the BBS noted below, or your favorite OS/2 ftp sites.  I loaded
it up and looked around, and found it did the job well.  I first
encountered a folding editor when working with the occam language about
nine years ago, but haven't seen once since, before AE.
