On C. I did a mb change and XP wouldn't boot up properly. Rather then
wasting time attempting a repair I wiped out the partition, reinstalled XP
( oem version ) and re-registered. The registration process went without a
problem.
John O ( I think) recently mentioned some issue where if on boot XP
determines some significant change and you don't re-register at that time
and subsequently reboot you may be stuck with a voice phone call to MS to
complete the registration process .
As for E, I own two copies of XP oem and the only difference I noticed were
that the oem copies were cheaper
