You have to remember when the movie was made. In '73 or '74 I bought a '67
GTX with a 426 Hemi 28,000 miles on it, plastic seat covers, floor mats, etc.
in SHOWROOM shape for $2000. Everything on the car was original except the
wheels. It had a set of the old two piece "mag" wheels along with
"POSITRACTION" tires (small then performance tire company).
(BTW, I sold the car for $2500 the next year when the
Torqueflite trans needed to be gone through).
The Hemi Challenger might have cost them all off $6-8000 new then. Hardly a
drop in the bucket for a film production cost.
