subject: Bowed legs & Sand Colic

Hi there, I am new to this board and thought someone might be able to
help me with a few problems I am facing. I have moved from Missouri to
San Diego, California. I had raised Appaloosa's there for a couple of
years. I had showed my Colt "Splash" and regional shows and done quite
well. He is out of Goer. Anyways, I had a filly in March that has
"bowed front legs" it has been getting worse. She had been put in
splints that helped for a while, however, she is much more muscular
that the other foals that my mare has had. It does not seem that
she is growing out of this. I am hoping as a two year old things
might be better. Any suggestions???
Also, I am planning to bring my colt out next year. In Southern
California a lot of horses have sand colic and some of them get
"Stones". I dont want my colt to have problems with this. Has
anyone experienced this? The water here is not the greatest, is
there a filtration system that people can use for automatic
watering systems? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Hope
to hear from you (especially any App lovers)? Thanks....
