You only get hit if your shields are down.  My computer has been running
Windows 2000 since 2000 and has never succumbed to viruses or spyware.  My
luck may be attributable to my NAT firewall, ZoneAlarm, Norton AntiVirus
and Webroot Spy Sweeper but the box simply keeps on running and I'd never
go back to Windows98.

Similarly, my office PC runs XP Pro and has for several years and before
that it ran 2000.  No problems with it either.
