The best one given by Gene Lowry and that I use is;
This is for the USR Robotic's DS Courier, V34+ but think it works for the V34 
Sportster as well.
AT&F1S7=55S11=50&W for setting the modem and writing to NVRAM. Then use ATZ 
for the INIT string. Works for all Term programs I have used, T.A.G. BBS and 
D'Bridge mailer with no problems.
And 28k8 or higher depends solely on the phone lines. Usually 26k4 or lower 
is the norm. I get 33k6 consisently here between 2 modems using the same 
telco, GTE locally.
