Hello Shoshona!
With regards:
SB> Next up ... the pirates will all speak to each other politely, with
SB> proper British accents, and will behave like the two Warner Bros.
SB> cartoon squirrels that spend the whole 'toon saying such clever lines
SB> as "indubitably", "quite", and "after you", "no, after you", "but I
SB> insist" ... Weenie Pirates!
I think that those squirrels are hilarious! And to think that children
might expand their vocabulary and even pick up some manners while being
entertained! Amazing! ;-)
SB> You don't actually LIKE the proposed changes for the PotC do you?
SB> If you do, I can tell you'll not be the kind of Disneyphile I could
SB> possibly exchange messages with. As a matter of fact, I doubt any true
SB> Disneyphile could possibly support such a ludicrous bastardization
SB> of Walt's vision for PotC!
I don't know how you can pretend to speak for all "true Disneyphiles"
and I'm not sure that you are as familiar with Walt's dream as you
think you are. Walt envisioned a better world. If it is to be,
it is up to me. Have you ever heard that? If we want a better world,
we have to do something about it. That was what Walt was all about.
Yes, Walt loved fantasy. He wanted to create a place that allowed
people of all ages to see the world as if we were children, no matter
what our age. And he succeeded in large measure. But that doesn't mean
that mistakes weren't made along the way. Nor does it mean that there
isn't room for improvement. The Disney dream also includes EPCOT Center
and visions of a real-life Magical Kingdom where people actually live
their day-to-day lives! Now some people prefer to live in the past
while others look forward to Tomorrowland. For those of us who are
interested in bringing about a better, more peaceful world, it's
absolutely imperative that we learn the lessons of the past, else
we make the same mistakes.
To answer your question... my interest does not lie in nit-picking
the proposed changes to the Pirates of the Caribbean. I just like
to challenge people to think. That is my contribution. You are free
to accept or reject the challenge. Please see my message titled:
"What's In A Name?" for another perspective on this subject.
Best Wishes,
