The first dinghy race went off on Monday.
I, modestly, took second place. (Very modestly, as the fleet
consisted of two boats. ) I will alibi a bit, as I sailed
single handed on my C-Lark against an experienced crew of 2 on
a Lido-14 in fairly heavy air. Crisp tacking was not to be and
had to overstand the marks to have any shot at avoiding them.
Oh well, it was fun!
There should have been at least 2 more boats out there, with one
of them being another C-Lark. The 5 boat Lido fleet was inactive,
as the kids where in Bainbridge for HS competition. It's going
to get really crowded out there when the summer hits, for sure.
As for the HS team mentioned above, they are winning everything
in sight. Most every one of them has gone through at least on
of the sailing programs at the Sequim Bay YC.
This will be the 3rd teaching season, with Beginner, Advanced
and Racing Classes. One of the alumni has been invited to
race in Annapolis, MD later this year.
... The best sailboat is the one you got to sail today...
