Just now I tried a little science experiment.  I went to www.msn.com, then
to www.iwon.com, two sites that are pretty bad about dumping adware on me.

I ran Spybot, now that I have a functioning version again, and it found 14
items, and removed them.  Then I ran Ad-aware, and it found four more.

My Spybot does not have the current definitions, though, because I got
tired of waiting for them to download.  Of the four upgrades available from
their online update service, it was only able to download two of them, the
other two timed out.  I wish there was a way to abort a session after
selecting to download the updates, though, 'cause the program goes
unresponsive while it waits for their update dial-up server in Timbuktu to
catch up.  The only way out is with the three-fingered salute.
