HH> So, as a ham, I police MYSELF.

I respect your opinion about policing yourself, but I am now being told that
I cannot use a radio Ive been using because Radio Shack had the rules changed
and I an 1 watt over the limit. Im not talking about the Amateur Radio
Service anyway. If I was the power would not be a problem. HH> like CB and I
will be no
HH> better than a "Gud Budee".

Anytime you deregulate you can expect the same thing that happened on CB. A
lot of people, me included, tried to influence them against this to no
avail. Radio Shack had the cash to make it happen.

Lets see....
Im a Ham (KF4EBP), Im a GMRS user(KAF7112), Im a licensed Marine Operator
(MP-GB-017874) and Ive seen a very disturbing trend. There has been an attack
on the 2 meter/440 bands for commercial interests. 14 GMRS channels have been
deregulated under a new loosely regulated service. VHF marine channels have
been deregulated. VHF Aviation band has also been deregulated.
I use ALL of those on a continual basis and I dont want them to turn out like
CB, but I guess I can forget that. 122.8 AM is starting to sound like a CB
since they dropped the license requirement. Ever tried to land a Cessna
safely when someone is talking about his wifes new car on Unicom Channels.
That kind of thing is for Ham or GMRS or CB. Thankfully I live close to a
Coast Guard station and mrn is still under control. I use GMRS to keep in
touch with my father who is wheelchair bound and now since FRS I expect to
start hearing baby monitors on the freq's we've been using.

With all these going on's its very hard for me to give everyone the same
courtesy I give on Amateur Freq's.
