Case? Go external. I've done that with a bunch. Lots of wide-to-narrow
cables around. An old PS/2 Model 95 case makes for a
dandy and classy drive enclosure with excellent cooling. A bit of Sawzall
mod to the drive support rack allows for 3 of these to slip right in, and
the 400W PS is more than enough. Paint the case dark grey or jet black and
it looks WAY COOL. The M/95 power supply is probably one of the
most bullet proof units ever built. When all the other machines are
rebooting on a glitch power hit, the M/95's keep running.
I've grown tired of opening up boxes for drive changes and have started to
convert all my mission critical machines to all external drives. When
you've got a big wad of these being spun up in order by a raid controller
you know a REAL computer is about to boot Each one takes about 5-7
sec and sounds like a jet turbine spinning up.
