Bugger.  I knew I should have bitten my tongue.[grumble]  One day I might
learn the lesson.  :)

Only if users weren't aware of the proposal's wording, to compare output.

It has needed a fix for nearly 14 years.  I no longer do anything in C; no
compiler, no can do fixes.  If it can't do the job properly then it need
not be there.
