Pity your stay was so brief. As for the mountains just outside of town, well
those are just the foothills, moderate climbs. Severe is 100km west of
Calgary
when you actually get to the Rockies, 2500-5000 meters elevation. (Envision
an 8spd cogset running from 11-26 teeth, no corncobs on our road machines)

As for 2005, this is something that you shold know about, being that Nagoya
Japan has a competing bid for the "World Exposition". From what I hear, a
great many Japanese(and others) are ready to lynch the Nagoya Expo Commitee
over a great many Environmental concerns.

Moving on to Canadian Culture. We still buy snow tires from Canuk Tire, drink

beer (tho not in any quantity by Japanese standards), watch Don Cherry on
Hockey Nite in Canada, dispise the (G)rab and (S)teal (T)ax [and Brian
Mulrouney],
and in most places can only ride 3 months out of a year without resorting to
Thinsulate riding clothes.
