I thought of that later on.

I've not actually counted the wires.

Depends on the plug,  but I've not had real good luck with that sort of
thing.  We'll see.

Odds are I probably am not going to end up using that onboard stuff anyway,
 at least for the time being.  The stuff I'm reading seems to indicate that
it has a performance penalty attached,  particularly the onboard video. 
And the one time I booted linux with the sound chip enabled the linux
kernel found it and recognized it,  but also said something about working
around the peculiarities of that chip,  I can't recall the exact wording
now.

It'd be different if I was looking at having to go out and buy video and
sound cards,  but I already had 'em on hand here,  not having the built-in
stuff on the other boards,  so they're in there.

What CPU chip are you running in yours?  Apparently the board can handle a
pretty wide range of them,  from what I'm reading.
