subject: no V90 for PCMCIA?

Have a Courier V.Everything PCMCIA, which I duly registered for x2 on
11/21/96 and was told "Your registration was successfully saved". Got
the key to enable it on 3/13/97. Went to upgrade to x2, preparatory
for V.90, and couldn't get it to take, so I called USR Courier Support
and was told "Your modem is not upgradeable" and was asked "What made
you think it was?", to which I replied that it was a Courier
V.Everything.
ATI7 information is:

What's the deal? Only reason I bought this modem for my laptop
(besides handling the sorry San Antonio telephone lines best) was to be
able to upgrade.
