subject: what do I have here?

RJT> First off, what I took to be the typical "intel inside"
thingy on one
RJT> of the chips -- on a heatsink, which should've tipped me off --
RJT> was "Video Inside"! The rest of what's on there is "TX PRO
RJT> II". There also seems to be a 2x8 pin header on the board

Eeuuww! As MPFC says, "Run away, run away!" It's one of those
PC-Chips rip-off chipsets. There lots of stuff on the web about
them, which you apparently can't get to yet.

RJT> There's a PS/2 pin header up by the keyboard connector I'm prepared for

You sure? there are at least three arrangements I've seen. A
single line, and two versions of 2x4 or 2x5. Don't be surprized
if it doesn't work, but that might just mean you need to rearrange
the connector.

RJT> with the right adapter, and a pair of other pin headers nearby
RJT> along that back edge of the board for what must be the two
RJT> serial ports, and the parallel and floppy interface

Maybe an IR, or USB?

RJT> connectors are about where I'd expect them, between the
RJT> ram and the first PCI connector. But the two IDE
RJT> connectors aren't there -- they're all the way down at the
RJT> bottom end of the board, below the CPU chip.

RJT> In between the first and second PCI connectors is another
RJT> pin header, 2 rows by 9 pins long, missing one pin. I
RJT> have *no* idea what this one is for, anybody know?

IR, I'd bet.

RJT> Then there's a 3-pin header on the other side of the sound
RJT> and BIOS chips labled "12V JP1 5V" with a jumper across the

EEPROM power.

RJT> Only ID I can find on this board is a sticker on the last
 RJT> ISA slot, that says
RJT> "MW84321402 Made In China", which ain't telling me much.

What's the BIOS number on screen when it says "Press 'DEL' for setup."

RJT> I just realized that what they gave me for headers doesn't include
RJT> anything for the onboard stuff, just the standard serial and
RJT> parallel connectors, and that's it. And I called them,
RJT> and can take it back tomorrow if necessary...

RJT> Your comments on this odd board?

Anything else available? I wouldn't want that chipset. PC-Chips
has been a real rip-off artist. Stole chipsets, and an AMI BIOS.
