The problem is containment. If you put heat into the earth, it would
radiate outwards, and eventually to the surface and lose it. Also,
any rainwater that soaks into the ground, or pass through it
(ie. a shallow water table) would carry away heat.
The heat would have to be contained in some sort of tank, a very
large tank. If you happen to have one, that's fine - most folks don't.
Too bad this 'cold fusion' thing got cold....
